This blog is about obesity and the inanity/insanity it spawns, the encroaching lawsuits and growing diet industry. Obesity is a matter of genes and personal responsibility. You can have an endocrine problem, or you can have a balance problem (too many calories and too little exercise). Warning: Halloween candy may cause obesity

But you can have the kiddos sign this waiver as you pass out the candy.

" Trick or Treater acknowledges and understands that no warranty, either expressed or implied, is made by Neighbor as to the nutritional content of said Halloween treat. This document is offered in order to duly warn Trick or Treater that without a corresponding increase in energy output, weight-related conditions, risks, and hazards may lurk in candy bars, caramel apples, candy corn, cider, pixie sticks, lollipops, popcorn balls, chocolate and any or all other “treats” that may be served.

Trick or Treater is hereby informed that Neighbor’s food may contain any of the following: calories, carbohydrates, sodium (salt), fat, saturated fat, polyunsaturated fat, monounsaturated fat, peanuts, sugar, and gobbledy goodness.

Trick or Treater acknowledges that eating Neighbor’s treats in conjunction with other sweets (both up to and exceeding a pillowcase worth) may incur risks including, but not limited to, chocolate craving satiation, sugar high, furry teeth, and that icky tummy feeling."

No need to run

It is reported in a recent issue of Chest that in a study of 133, middle-age, over weight and sedentary folks at risk for heart disease, 12 miles of walking a week at a moderate pace did just as much good as 12 miles of jogging or brisk walking. I'm taking a wild guess here, but don't you think the 12 miles is the key? That's 2 miles a day, 6 days a week, with time out to go to church on Sunday. If you're a slug or a couch potato even 15 minutes a day would be an improvement, wouldn't it?

Google's new blog finder

Google has a new feature whereby you can find blogs by the bloggers name, or topic. I tried it with my name and then my name + a topic and found it very easy to use. http://blogsearch.google.com. However, it also makes it easier for the blog spammers to be target specific. These are the "Hi, great blog. Come and visit mine on [your topic]. So I'll have to add the stronger filters to the comments. My topical blogs are all getting hit.
